Building Process
Tested & Measured Building Process
Building your home is possibly the biggest financial decision of your life. Our tested & measured Platinum building process is essential to maintaining high standards and competitive prices. That’s how you can be sure the choice to build with Platinum is a good one.
It takes dedication, training and hours of hard work to learn the Platinum building process. This snapshot gives you a little insight into the parts of the process you’ll interact with when you build.
- Before You Sign Up
Start your building process at your local Platinum Homes show home or sales centre. Your personal home consultant can help you choose the plan that’s right for you, add your personal style to it, check if it suits your site and prepare a preliminary estimate.
When you’re happy with the overall package we’ll visit the site and create a contour plan. You just need to supply a site plan with dimensions and bearings so we can cost the site preparation. Then you’ll receive your quotation.
- Getting the Details Right
Plans are drawn up as soon as you accept your quote. Sometimes a geotech report is also needed. Your consultant checks the plans with you and when you are happy with them you sign them off.
- Pressing the GO button
A Contract is prepared for you to discuss with your solicitor, valuer, financer or other advisers. It becomes unconditional when it’s signed and the deposit is paid. Then, your Building Consent application is lodged, along with a Resource Consent application, if you need it.
- Choosing the Finishing Touches
While you wait for the Council processes it’s time to choose the finishing touches for your home – colours, kitchen units and other details. Make the most of our colour consultant to help get things perfect.
While we wait for the Council processes we will be preparing a detailed project plan using our computer aided system. You won’t need to get involved with this plan, but it’s important you know its there. It’s how we ensure your building project runs smoothly.
- Constructing your home
Construction starts soon after your Council consents come through. You’ll meet your Home Building Supervisor. They’ll keep things on track for you and keep you up to date with progress. They are the person you’ll turn to if you have any questions or concerns during the building process. They’ll be using our well defined systems to ensure you receive excellent service and your home just as you dreamed and planned.
- Moving In
Before you move in your new home is cleaned and the final Council inspection is completed. You meet your Home Building Supervisor at your new home and inspect your new home, receive your keys, and an information pack that contains all the product guarantees and warranties. The pack also includes a list of phone numbers for the contractors who worked on your new home. They’ll also remind you about your maintenance period and your ten year structural warranty.
